‘The Objective of Education Is Learning, Not Teaching’

In the educational process, students should be offered a wide variety of ways to learn, among which they could choose or with which they could experiment. They do not have to learn different things the same way. They should learn at a very early stage of “schooling” that learning how to learn is largely their responsibility — with the help they seek but that is not imposed on them.

Traditional education focuses on teaching, not learning. It is based on the theory that knowledge is not shared, but rather constructed within each individual through either inductive or deductive reasoning. In a Learning Environment, the presentation of content is not as important as the discovery of the underlying patterns and concepts that constructed the content. TIPS classroom is a student centered learning environment. Activities are designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and to equip students with the skills to become independent learners. Structured inquiry, critical thinking, activities in which students may learn through experience are used in the classroom. The teacher is a facilitator of the learning process.

MUN

Students take part in the Model United nation as a delegate and debate with other nations’ representatives about the various significant national and international issues. This prepares them to be unbiased and well informed leader of tomorrow and understand the global issues and their implications today!

Robotics

A New Way of Thinking

TIPS offers a unique curriculum that helps students ‘connect the dots’ between what they learn in their traditional math science classes and their ‘hand-on’ learning with robots This learning model helps them to internalize the concepts and understand them more effectively.

Why Robotics?

Robotics is a multi-disciplinary field, which combines mechanical, and electronics engineering, computers, math and science. You will discover breakthrough technologies in Robotics. Immerse yourself in the most forward-looking discipline of our time. The structure and content of the program is based on models successfully implemented throughout the country.

A unique way to explore the world of robotics exactly as it is taught at the top institutions in the world.

Arts

TIPS students work in a wide range of 2D and 3D media, including painting, drawing, collage, and computer graphics. There is an emphasis in student artwork on individuality and creativity in response to research as well as in response to spontaneous art activity as part of the academic curriculum. Early & Primary School offers an engaging, challenging and active experience of the creative process. Classes are designed to encourage students to explore the world around them through the creation, and appreciation of art.

Middle School builds on this ‘aesthetic enthusiasm’ teaching the processes and techniques to further refine skills using a more complex range of models and concepts. High School students will be able to demonstrate a variety of modes of analytical and perceptive thinking and independently create a high calibre of imaginative and creative work.

Music

We all love watching little children dance around the room with little or no inhibition, singing along with their favorite songs in a voice that’s clear and strong, though maybe a little out of tune. Music is an obvious outlet for self-expression and creativity. But far beyond providing an opportunity to sing and dance, researchers have shown that a strong musical education provides so much more. Music, for example, develops self-discipline. The child who allots time for practicing each day is known to develop similar habits in conjunction with other subjects as well. Organizational skills increase & the child learns to excel in various fields of learning.

Ensemble experience also builds teamwork. Band members learn the importance of being a reliable member of a group and are educated as to the importance of being a team player and not necessarily always “the star.”

Scientists have also discovered that learning to read music or play a musical instrument develops higher thinking skills. The child who is skilled at music excels at problem-solving, evaluation, and analysis. Music reading uses the same portion of the brain that’s used in mathematical thinking.

We believe that it is essential that music must be taught throughout the curriculum, and not just in separate areas such as orchestra and tuitions. That is one way we can assure opportunities for all students to develop their capacities more fully. Students from Kindergarten through Senior School are involved in learning Indian Classical music and Instruments.

Dance

Historically, dancing has been a part of our established society since the days of the primitive man. In the old civilizations, dance was always a signal that proves for something important had happened, will happen or is happening. There have been dances that thanked the universe for bountiful harvests while there have also been dances that sought respite from drought and famine. Dances were also used to prepare warriors for battle, to crown Kings and to celebrate marriages. Since time immemorial, dance has been the expression of our lives.

Essentially, dancing has been and is important because it is part of us as humans, we live, we love, we laugh and we dance. Dancing contributes immensely to the personal improvement of the child and thereby enhances all types of skills that are required for better education. Research has shown that dancing boosts child’s self-esteem and enhances confidence in them.

Dancing requires memorization and so helps children improve their overall memory when trying to remember steps. Dancing improves listening skills in children, whether it is for the instructions or for the beats. Dancing imbibes social skills in children and teaches them how to interact with their peers in a positive and a non-competitive manner. By participating in dance events, they experience what it is to participate in pure cooperative and collaborative group endeavors. They best learn to be supportive, to truly work as a team and to compromise. Dancing, in any form is an enjoyable and a wonderful form of exercise. Dancing helps the body’s circulatory system and improves cardiovascular health.

Dance improves the flexibility and helps with a much better posture and improves muscle tone. The lack of physical activity and consequent obesity problem amongst children can be offset by dance. Dancing helps to relax, reducing stress and tension. We can undoubtedly say that dancing is tantamount to children’s overall education, personality development and well-being.

Friedrich Nietzsche rightly reflected, “Dancing in all its forms cannot be excluded from the curriculum of all noble education: dancing with the feet, with ideas, with words, and, need I add that, one must also be able to dance with the pen?”

We offer learning in both Indian classical and western dances as an integral part of the curriculum.

Leadership Camps

We are partnered with the National Adventure and Leadership School (NALS) to integrate Leadership Camps into our curriculum, held at their facility in the Western Ghat Mountains.

The main objectives of these camps are:
* Improved punctuality, Self Discipline and Self Control
* Building Self confidence, attitude and self belief
* Enable awareness of team spirit
* Enhance communication and interpersonal skills
* Enable problem solving skills and decision making through consensus
* Improved leadership and Survival skills
* Ability to face adversities and challenges head on
* Improved risk taking ability
* Intra and Inter group dynamics
* Cooperation, Coordination to create synergy
* Trust building and bonding
* Retrospective Analysis
* Enhanced awareness of environment and social issues
* Improved humility and concern for fellow human beings

Why Adventure is required for developing leadership and survival skills?

Leadership and survival skills are innate in every human being. For triggering or rekindling leadership and survival skills, one must experience a higher intensity of emotional conflict over a certain period of time.

We can say for sure that training programs have to be tough and of long duration to groom leadership skills. While one cannot put ordinary citizens through the training programs, one can provide similar intensity through adventure.

Further, adventure attracts all human beings as it is challenging and exhilarating. It is important to note that floor level training programs trigger mental activity like problem solving and logic, but they are not sufficient enough to trigger natural instincts buried inside an individual.

Hence, NALS delivers program objectives through exciting adventure activity in addition to floor level activities.

Fine Dining

Multicultural menus for a diverse community

The Catering Department at TIPS, enables us to employ and train all our own chefs. We take great pride in our autonomy as it allows us to produce the type of creative, fresh and nutritious food that appeals to our multicultural community.

Here at TIPS we source only fresh ingredients from nominated and approved suppliers. Most of our daily deliveries of vegetables, fruit, dairy and meat come from local producers, meaning we can literally trace each meal from ‘farm to fork’.

We keep our menus seasonal, change them regularly, and embrace the School nutritional guidelines. Your ideas and recipe suggestions are always welcome. We hope you take full advantage of our fantastic catering facilities, and look forward to serving you soon.

Transportation

From your door to our door.

Welcome to the TIPS Transportation Department – working with families to transport their children safely and efficiently between home and school in air-conditioned new generation vehicles.

Vehicles are fitted with speed governors for safety and are staffed with a helper onboard to ensure care during the travel. Because we understand the challenges faced by families with regard to city transportation, the TIPS Transportation Department will make every effort to arrange commutation facilities for your children from their first day of school.

In order to ensure the process runs efficiently, we would appreciate your assistance by informing us of your home address as soon as possible. Please note that requests received after March may not be processed in time for the start of the school year.
